Understanding Your Rights & Responsibilities

Healthcare is a two-way process between you (the patient) and the medical team who care for you. You have the right to expect high-quality, compassionate care, but there are also things you can do to help ensure that you receive it.

Mimi Hospital Uttara believes it is important for patients to understand both their rights and responsibilities in this process.

Your Rights as a Patient

Right to Proper Medical Care

You have the right to know the name of the doctor and other hospital staff responsible for your care, and to communicate with them directly about your condition and treatment.

Right to Respect

Right to a Second Opinion

You have the right to ask for a second opinion from another doctor within Mimi Hospital Uttara or from its Medical Board.

Right to Leave the Hospital

You may leave the hospital at any time, even if it is against medical advice, after signing a discharge against medical advice (DAMA) form.

Right to Freedom from Restraint

You have the right to be free from any form of restraint or seclusion unless it is medically necessary for your safety or treatment.

Right to Privacy and Confidentiality

Your privacy is respected at all times. All medical records and personal information will be kept strictly confidential.

Right to Informed Consent

No medical treatment will be carried out without your informed consent or that of your authorized family member.

Right to Access Medical Information

You have the right to receive complete information regarding your diagnosis, treatment, and medical record upon request.

Right to Emergency Care

In a medical emergency, you are entitled to receive immediate and unconditional treatment.

Right to Be Informed About Costs

You have the right to clear and transparent information regarding your hospital bills and charges.

Right to Complain

Your Responsibilities as a Patient

  • Be punctual for your appointments and inform the hospital if you cannot attend.
  • Be honest and open with your healthcare team about your medical history, medications, and previous treatments.
  • Treat all hospital staff, doctors, and nurses with respect and courtesy.
  • Follow your doctor’s advice and treatment plan carefully.
  • Take prescribed medicines as directed and complete the full course of treatment.
  • Use emergency services only in genuine emergencies.
  • Respect the privacy and rights of other patients and hospital staff.
  • Clear your hospital bills promptly.

Admission & Payment Guide

Eligibility for Admission

Patients can be admitted to Mimi Hospital Uttara as in-patients either through the Out-Patient Department (OPD) or from the Emergency Department.

Before Admission

Your consultant will advise you on your treatment plan and the expected duration of your hospital stay.

Documents Required for Admission

Please bring your Admission Notification Form from your consultant’s desk and your UHID card during admission.

Registration for New Patients

New patients must complete a one-time registration to receive a Unique Hospital Identification (UHID) number and card.

Bed Categories

You may choose from various types of in-patient rooms: standard, semi-private, private, deluxe, super deluxe, and suite, depending on your preference and budget.

Billing & Payment

An initial deposit will be collected at the time of admission based on the type of room and the nature of the treatment planned.

Discharge Guide

Your physician will determine when you are fit to leave the hospital and record this in your medical file. A formal discharge order will then be issued.

Checklist Before Leaving

  • You have received and checked your hospital bill and all relevant papers.
  • You have collected all your personal belongings.
  • You have received and understood your doctor’s discharge prescription and instructions.
  • You have booked your follow-up appointment.
  • You have returned the Attendant Pass at the In-patient Cash Counter.
  • You have submitted your Feedback Form to the Ward Secretary.
  • Your floor doctor has explained your discharge medications.

Visiting Hours & Rules

Patient Visiting Hours

For the comfort and safety of all patients, visiting hours are limited to:

  • Morning: 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM
  • Evening: 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM

Visitors’ Rules

To maintain a peaceful and hygienic hospital environment:

  • Visitors are not allowed in ICUs, Operation Theatres, or the Dialysis Unit.
  • Children under 12 years are not permitted as visitors to prevent infection risks.
  • Visitors should be considerate toward other patients.
  • Bringing outside food or flowers is prohibited.
  • Personal electronic gadgets like speakers or music systems are not allowed.
  • Smoking is strictly prohibited within hospital premises or within 50 feet of the building.
  • Taking photographs or videos inside the hospital is not allowed.
